May Ipsy Bag

Happy May Long Weekend! I had some time this long weekend so I was able to write a post even though I've been so crazy busy lately with school. I recently got my May Ipsy bag in the mail. I was really happy with this month's bag. First of all the actual bag is really cute. It's canvas and has this cute picture on the front. I believe this brand just recently put out larger, limited edition bags at Sephora

Cotz Face-Natural Skin Tone Sheer Matte Finish Lightly Tinted Sunscreen (SPF 40)
The first item I received I'm really excited about even though I have not tried it yet on my face. It's a sunscreen that is completely matte, scentless and slightly tinted. I'm hoping this will go well under foundation. I've never been able to find a sunscreen that I like. Most I've tried have been too oily to wear with makeup or react with my sensitive skin but with my fair completion, sun protection is a must. I'll report back if this works for me. The full size retails for $20 but this is a $5 sample.

Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush
I was also extremely excited about this next item as this is one of the few brushes that are missing from my collection. I've been looking for a good fluffy blending brush to use with transition colours in my crease and I think I've found it. This brush is really soft and the pink with rose gold is so beautiful. I'm so happy to have received this. This brush retails for $12.

Peter Lamas Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser
I have to say I'm getting a little tired of receiving cleansers and moisturizers in my bag each month. I have sensitive skin so I try not to switch up my routine too much so I usually don't get a lot of use out of sample products like these. The full size retails for $24.

 Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color
I received a Chella product in one of my last bags and really love it so I have high hopes for this product. This is a mechanical brow pencil. It's not as high quality as my BrowWiz and it doesn't come with a spoolie but the colour matches my brows well so hopefully I'll be getting a lot of use out of this. I believe this is full size and it retails for $18.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil in Ozone
I absolutely love the 24/7 eyeliners so I'm very excited to try the lip liner. This one is clear so it will work under any shade. The package also came with two samples of their new Revolution High-Color Lipgloss in Failbait and Bittersweet. It's no secret Urban Decay is one of my favourite brands (see my extensive Urban Decay Collection here). I was very surprised to see a UD product in my Ipsy bag this month. This pencil is a mini but the full size retails for $16 and the Lipglosses are $22.

Overall one of the best, if not the best, Ipsy bags I've received. Due to time constraints I haven't been able to play around with the products as much as I would have liked to be able to give a full review, but if I end up liking the products I'm sure you'll seen them in a monthly favourites post.

Quick Update

Hello Lovelies,

Just a quick little update for anyone one who follows my blog. I'm currently taking two university courses this month and anyone who has had the joy of taking spring/summer courses at University knows that it is one of the most hectic and stressful things you can put yourself through. I'll be completing 6 credit hours in less than a month which means I won't have time to update my blog regularly. I hope to still get a few posts up this month but they won't be regularly scheduled.

Thanks for baring with me. I hope to get back to my regular Mon/Wed schedule in June. If anyone else is taking Spring/Summer courses let me know and we can commiserate.

-Meggy

April 2015 Favourites

This is the second April Favourites I've ever done, I'm actually excited about this. I'll be putting the year and the month in my favourites titles from now on. I have quite a few favourites this month.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes
I've actually had this mascara in my favourites before but I finally bought a full size. I really love this mascara. It's really lengthening and volumizing while being easy to remove. I also don't notice any flaking and it holds a curl really well on my lashes.

Pure Ice Matte Top Coat
This is a cheap nail polish brand I've talked about on my blog many times before so when I found this matte top coat, I was really excited. It gives your nails a completely matte finish which makes them look really unique and interesting. I love it!
Revlon Nail Enamel in Elegant
I had a few professional presentations and meeting this month and I wanted my nails to look really nice so I picked up. It's true to it's name as it looks really elegant.

e.l.f Lip Exfoliator
I really like my Lush Lip scrub but it can get kinda messy. This is perfect for your handbag or when you're on the go. It softens the lips and leaves them feeling moisturized. It also has a really sweet taste.

M.A.C Lipstick in Syrup
This is the first M.A.C lipstick I've owned and I think it's the perfect everyday colour for me. I've worn it everyday this month. I don't think I need to go into too much detail as most people own at least one M.A.C lipstick.

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Shimmer
This is an amazing drugstore palette. I'm going to be having a full review coming soon but the shadows are all really creamy and pigmented. I've been using it a lot this month, especially the first row.

Sonia Kashuk All Covered up Concealer
I really like this concealer. It's not perfect but it is creamy and has really high coverage so it's perfect for redness or blemishes. As long as it's set really well it doesn't slip too much but I wouldn't use it under the eyes as it's too thick and slippery to work correctly.

How Much Does My Makeup Collection Cost?

This is a post I've seen other bloggers do recently and I thought it would be an interesting follow up post to my Makeup Collection Series I posted last week. I've only included my makeup products and not skincare. It's interesting to see how much money I've spent on makeup over the years. It would appear I have a fairly expensive collection. I've calculated the cost based on Canadian Dollars. Also a large percentage of my collection has been gifts from family or friends. I've been very lucky!
Bronzer- $68
Blush- $143
Highlighters- $86
Cheek Palettes- $165
Face Products (Foundation, Powder, Concealer etc.)- $272
Single Eyeshadow- $192
Eyeshadow Palletes- $443
Mascara- $56
Eyeliners- $339
Brows- $34
Lip Products- $413
Brushes- $249

Grand Total: $2460

How much is your collection worth?

 Organization
In case you missed my last few posts, this is my vanity where I keep/do all my makeup. I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond. Most my products are kept in the cupboard or the drawer but a few products are kept in a 3 drawer storage on top of the desk.

I keep the majority of my brushes in this cute planter I got from the hardware store. I filled it with beads so the brushes would stand up. I have face brushes on the left and eye brushes on the right. My dual ended brushes are kept horizontal in the white box behind.

Thank you so much to everyone who kept up with this series! If you saw anything throughout the week you'd like me to review just let me know! I had a lot of fun looking through all the products I own and I hope you enjoyed it too!

My Makeup Collection Spring 2015: Skincare

All this week I'm showcasing my makeup collection. If you missed yesterday's post you can find it here.  I really like looking at other people's makeup collections so I thought I'd share mine. I'll be putting together a list of the products I own in each makeup category as well as how I organize my makeup collection. This is also a good way for me to keep track of what makeup I own. I am, of course, in no way trying to brag about my collection!

Today I'm focusing on skincare. Although not technically makeup, skincare is one of the most important steps in a makeup routine. I used to think skincare was boring but I've since seen the error of my ways and my collection has grown accordingly. I have a post reviewing all my skincare from the body shop here. If you see any other products you'd like to see reviewed just let me know!

In case you missed my last few posts, this is my vanity where I keep/do all my makeup. I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond. Most my products are kept in the cupboard or the drawer but a few products are kept in a 3 drawer storage on top of the desk.

My daily used skincare sits on top of the set on drawers on my vanity so I can have easy access.

The rest of my skincare resides in the last two sections of the mesh drawer in my cabinet. My more frequently used (for example once a week products) are in the middle section and my least used skincare is in the very back.

Tomorrow is the last day of my Makeup Collection Series. I hope you've enjoyed my week of makeup collection posts so far. Remember to ask if you want a review of any of the products mentioned. Also let me know if you have any of these products and what you think of them!

 Organization

In case you missed my last few posts, this is my vanity where I keep/do all my makeup. I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond and my dad hooked up a basic vanity light fixture above. Most my products are kept in the cupboard or the drawer but a few products are kept in a 3 drawer storage on top of the desk.
I keep my favourite lipsticks displayed on my vanity in this lipstick holder. I organize them by brand going across and by shade family going down.
All the rest of my lip products are stored in this container in my cupboard. I also organize them by shade. Drawers R-L Maroon/Burgundy, Pink, Red and Nude.

I hope you enjoy my week of makeup collection posts and remember to ask if you want a review of any of the products mentioned. Also let me know if you have any of these products and what you think of them!
