November 2016 Favourites

Monthly Favourites Time! It's been a while since I did a monthly favourites post. November was a very strange month for me as I didn't have school (long story- not by choice), so I didn't wear a lot of makeup. However the Sephora VIB sale allowed me to get some new products.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Foundation
I needed a new foundation and the lovely woman at Sephora helped me pick this one out (finding a foundation that comes in my snowy-white shade is not easy so extra points to UD). I love how it doesn't feel like you're wearing foundation but it's still buildable enough to give you good coverage. It also doesn't stick to my dry patches and allows my skin to still look natural which is literally all I'm looking for in a foundation. The downside is it smells, quite literally, like paint.

Ulta3 nail colour in Sizzling Red
This is a nail polish I got in my Ipsy bag. It's super opaque with only one coat and surprisingly long lasting. I've been wearing it a bunch this month. It looks especially festive with a glittery gold top coat.

Marc Jacobs Lipstick in Slow Burn
This a a perfect everyday lipstick for me. The shade looks really natural and the formula is super comfortable and long lasting. I know I've talked a lot about Marc Jacobs lipsticks on my blog but it's got to be one of my favourite formulas.

NudeStix Concealer Pencil
This is another product I received in an Ipsy bag. I really love this concealer pencil for covering up spots. It's thick and has high coverage which makes it perfect for concealing small problem areas.

Autumn 2016 Favourites

I've been a very bad blogger lately. I'm sorry I haven't had a new post up in a while but I have a bunch planned for the rest of the month so things should be getting back to normal soon. Because I didn't get a September or October Favourites up and it's now November, here is everything I have been loving this autumn.

Nail Polishes
Sephora Formula X- Ignite
I finally got into the autumnal spirit with this dark red shade. I've been very vocal about my love for the Formula X polishes. They're definitely the longest lasting that I've tried.
Ciate London- Spinning Tea Cup
I tried to hold onto summer with this shade. It's a beautiful lilac purple, one of my personal favourite colours. The formula of Ciate nail pots are also great as they're opaque and long lasting.
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
I started using this top coat and it is amazing. It makes my polish last for weeks and keeps my nails super shiny. The one major downside is it smells much stronger than most other nail polishes I own.

Beauty
it Haircare 12-in-One Amazing Leave in Treatment
This is a product I received in a recent Ipsy bag that has made a big different to my hair routine. It has so many benefits (12 actually), including heat protection. I just apply a little to my wet hair before drying and it leaves my hair super shiny and soft. Plus it smells nice and fresh.
Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder
I'm sure this powder has been in a favourites before at one point. I recently repurchased this powder and I absolutely love it. It's creamy and has high coverage but doesn't look too cakey on my skin.
Marc Jacobs Lip Creme in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
This mini lipstick came in the Sephora Birthday gift this year and I just can't stop wearing it. This has quickly become my favourite lipstick formulas. It's so comfortable (I mean forget you're wearing it comfortable), it is really creamy, insanely opaque with just one swipe and it's super long lasting. Literally the perfect lipstick. The colour is a really nice dusty rose too.
Jordana FabuLiner
I know for sure that this eyeliner has been in a previous favourites because it's one of my all time favourites. In my opinion it's one of the best drugstore eyeliners and it's super affordable (like $3). It has a felt tip which I find easy to use, and the biggest plus for me, it has a matte finish.

Non-Beauty Favourites
Heartland
This fall I ended up spending some time riding horses at a ranch near my lake. Because of this I started watching Heartland on Netflix and quickly became hooked. It's a Canadian TV show that centres on a horse ranch in Alberta. Heartland is currently in it's 10th season which gave me confidence that it was worth watching. There aren't that many sweet family drama's on TV anymore so it's really nice if you're looking for a relaxing Netflix binge.  For Canadians, I think it's nice to support CBC and Canadian television because there's really not that many options and for everyone else, this is just a really sweet and addictive family show. Plus the animals are cute!

Summer 2016 Favourites

I had to take some time off this summer due to work and travelling but things should be getting back to my normal Monday/Wednesday posts now.
This summer I've had quite a few favourites because I started a new professional job. I've been doing my makeup everyday unlike during school when I wear quite minimal makeup.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum- I loved wearing this foundation all summer, especially for work. It has light coverage and is semi-matte which was nice for the summer months when it's hot outside and it's easy for your skin to get oily, but it's not completely matte so it still gives you a nice natural finish.
MaxFactor Primer- Primer was important in making my foundation last and continue looking good for the 7 hours of work. It also really smoothed out my skin.

Urban Outfitters Nail Polish in Tutu- I've been on a nail polish kick this summer and found a few that I'm totally obsessed with. This gold glitter polish looks beautiful especially with the flecks of purple. It's like my perfect polish. Checkout my Instagram (@makeupbymeggy) to see a picture of it on my nails.
Revlon Nail Polish in 420 Copperglaze Platinum- When I first got this polish, I wore it three weeks in a row. Besides the fact that it's rose gold, it's also long lasting and applies nicely.
Flower Beauty Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color in Tea Rose- This is my perfect nude lipstick. I have fairly pigmented lips so really light nudes look weird on me. But this nude is just the perfect tone for my fair skin. It's also a very comfortable velvety matte. And if you can catch the theme here, the packaging is rose gold.

L.A Girl Pro. Conceal- I had heard a lot about this very inexpensive concealer and I finally picked it up this summer. I got the shade classic ivory which has a pinky undertone making it perfect for concealing and correcting under the eyes. It's also very opaque but extremely blendable. I've been loving it.
Rouge Edition Velvet in 07 Nude-ist- Just for the record, this is in no way a nude. I would almost call it a pinky red but I love it. It's extremely long wearing, even while eating and it's comfortable on the lips. It goes on feeling velvety and smooth but dries completely matte.

May 2016 Favourites

It's that time of the month again. Here's what I've been loving in the month of May.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer
I am as white as snow and thanks to some Icelandic/Irish ancestry, I don't tan, like at all. My skin burns, freckles a little, then returns to snowy white so if I want tanned skin in the summer I have to do it artificially (which is safer so I would suggest it anyway). I like this gradual tan lotion because it doubles as a moisturizer and I can control how dark I get by how often I apply it. It also looks really natural.

Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Chihuahua
I have been loving this lipstick this month. It's a really pretty mauve colour. The formula is comfortable and long lasting. Plus it smells really good. I like the sponge applicator but it does make it a little difficult to apply.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara
Another Too Faced product I have been loving this month. This mascara leaves my lashes looking long and voluminous. I love the wand which has bristles instead of plastic. It also does a really good job of separating my lashes.

Milani Shadow Eyez in 03 Champagne Toast
I have been reaching for this quick eye shadow pencil a lot this month. It's perfect for days when you're in a rush to get ready. It is such a gorgeous champagne colour and its easy to apply and blend out. I did a eyeshadow look with it a few years ago (one of my very first posts). You can find it here.

Milani Baked Blush in 05 Luminoso
This is probably my favourite blush for spring and summer. It gives you an amazing glow that looks very sun-kissed. It's also especially great when you have a bit of a tan. I usually wear it alone on my cheeks without any bronzer, highlight or contour.

April 2016 Favourites

I'm so happy that it's finally spring and the weather is getting nicer. I recently did a Winter Favourites post so I don't have a lot of new favourites for this month, but I do have a few.

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-in Conditioner

This is such a good leave in conditioner. It makes my hair so soft and shiny. I am not a big fan of the spray because it doesn't come out in a fine mist due to it's thick consistency so I like to spray some into my hand and use my fingers to run it through my hair.

Origins Plantscription Youth Renewing Face Oil

I've been using this before bed this past month and I think my skin has been looking really good lately. It is an oil but it sinks in really fast. When I wake up my skin looks rejuvenated and feels so soft however I'll need to use it longer to see the long term effects.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB

I like wearing a lighter foundation in the warmer months and this BB cream is perfect. It's really dewy and moisturizing. It hides imperfections and makes my skin look more even, but still really natural.

 Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Leapin' Lilac

I've been obsessed with this lilac nail polish this month. It's really opaque, fast drying and the applicator is big which means you can paint your nails really fast. Plus it lasts about a week on me (with a top coat) without chipping. If you want to see my Nail Polish of the Day (among other things) follow me over on Instagram @Makeupbymeggy.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream

Once the weather gets warmer I replace my warmer scented body lotions with something a little fresher. I really love the lime scent of this body butter plus it's really moisturizing.

What have your favourites been during the month of April?

End of Winter 2016 Favourites

I'm done! I handed in my thesis and wrote my final exam, which means no more school until September. However, due to my previously explained thesis obligations, I didn't post my favourites for February or March, so I thought I would combine them into my favourites for the last few months of winter.

Oil Drops in Foundation - We're starting off with a technique favourite instead of a product favourite. These past few months I've been obsessed with adding a few drops of oil to my foundation. My skin gets dry in the winter which makes my foundation go on cakey. I've found with a few drops of oil, my foundation goes on much smoother.
Vaseline- Just to top off what has been one of the most stressful periods of my life, I've also been suffering from a cold and I have to say Vaseline is a life saver. My nose has been so dry and irritated from constantly blowing my nose, and Vaseline seemed to be the only thing that would sooth and moisturize my poor nose.
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels- This may be a bit of a cheat because I only used this product once, but it was so good I just had to include it in my favourites. I had a big presentation for my thesis and I wanted to look my best and these really helped reduce the puffiness and darkness under my eyes,
Milani Blush in Tea Rose- This is a gorgeous bright matte pink blush that makes me look really healthy. It's fairly pigmented but quite bendable, and isn't the rose design stunning!
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Seduction- I really love matte lips but they can be drying, however the formula of this is so comfortable. It smells really good and it's a lovely nude colour.
Soap and Glory Rich & Foamous Body Wash- This body wash is really moisturizing, it foams up really well and leaves my skin feeling super soft. I'm also totally addicted to the warm, almond honey scent.
Lorac Pro Palette- I have a full review of this palette that you can read here, but I've used this palette so much these last few months. It's perfect for everyday.
Posh Colouring Book- I suffer from anxiety and this past year has been extremely stressful for me so when my bestie gave me this colouring book I was really excited. I've found colouring to be very relaxing so I've been doing a lot of it these past few months.

It's almost time for my giveaway to thank you for staying with me during my hiatus this winter. Later this week my giveaway will go live so make sure you're following me on Bloglovin'

January 2016 Favourites

My favourites for the month of January include some rediscovered products as well as some new ones. You'll also probably notice a theme of hydration here. Is anyone else totally sick and tired of winter yet?

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Crave
These Urban Decay liners have the best formulation in my opinion. Really creamy and easy to apply, and once dry, they won't budge. I hadn't worn much pencil liner in the last few months but for some reason I found myself reaching for this dark matte brown a lot this month.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I will admit to owning a LOT of eyeshadow palettes so sometimes I have palettes that don't get as much love as they deserve. That's what happened with my Naked 2 palette. It got pushed to the back of my drawer and I didn't use it for months, but it's back! I seriously love this palette! I've been reaching for it most days. I have a full review with swatches here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
January had more than one day that was -40C which just destroys my skin. This has been my savior. Before bed I literally apply this head to toe on all my dry patches and I wake up with totally hydrated skin. I can't recommend it enough. I even got my whole family hooked on this stuff.

Zoeva 126 Luxe Cheek Finish Brush
This Zoeva brush has replaced my Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek as my favourite blush brush. It's so soft and applies the perfect amount of blush.

Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria Lipstick
My first luxury lipstick. Besides the packaging, which is so stunning I don't even have words, the actually lipstick is really great too. It's a matte formula that feels comfortable and long lasting. The shade is also a really nice brownish nude.

Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose Kiss
Back to blaming the cold weather, my lips have been dry and hurting this month so this Nivea lip butter has been really soothing and moisturizing. Plus it's light pink tinted and smells like rasperries which is a nice plus.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I have been using this mascara all month and I'm still making up my mind about it but I think I like it, so I've put it in my favourites. I'll report back (probably in an empties post) about my final feelings.

Origins Gin-Zing Moisturizer
Finally I've been using a new daily moisturizer. This one is thin which feels really lovely to apply. I also like the orange scent which helps wake me up in the morning. It moisturizes my skin nicely so I'm quite happy with it!

What were your favourites in January?

If you guys haven't read my last post about temporary changes in my blogging schedule you can check it out here. Also make sure you're following me on Bloglovin (click the heart button in my sidebar). I'll follow back and the faster I get to 300, the faster the Giveaway starts.

Best of 2015: Lips

All week I have been posting my Best of 2015 products, divided into different categories. Any product that has a * beside it was a favourite last year as well. Today is my favourite lip products. You can see my favourites from last year here.

LipstickMAC Syrup. This isn't necessarily my favourite lipstick formulation (that award still belongs to the Maybelline Matte Lipsticks) but this is definitely the lipstick I wore the most last year. It's the perfect  everyday pinky shade.
Lip GlossNYX Butter Gloss. I almost didn't include this category because I rarely wore lip gloss last year but if I ever did reach for a lip gloss I tended to use this one as a lipstick topper.
Lip CrayonRevlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain* I wear this literally everyday to school. It's moisturizing, and long lasting.
Lip LinerCharlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. The perfect my lips but better lipliner! Worn under a lipstick it does help to make the lipstick last longer and it will make you lips look fuller but I really like to wear this on it's own.
Lip ScrubE.L.F Lip Exfoliator. As this lip scrub is in a lipstick tube, I find it much less messy and easier to apply. It's also really good at moisturizing and smoothing you lips. Plus it's inexpensive.
Lip ButterNivea Lip Butter* I only use Nivea lip balms. Although the pot is a little less hygienic than the tube, the scent of these are so good! It doesn't have any taste and it's really moisturizing.

Best of 2015: Eyes

All week I will be posting my Best of 2015 products, divided into different categories. Any product that has a * beside it was a favourite last year as well. Today is my favourite eye products. You can see my favourites from last year here.
Single Eyeshadow- Urban Decay Sin. This eyeshadow was by far my most worn of the year. It's perfect for if you just want a light wash of colour over the lid. Urban Decay just has the best eyeshadows.
Cream Eyeshadow- Maybelline Color Tattoo* On days when I don't want to spend much time getting ready these color tattoos are the best. The bonus is that they're so long lasting! My most worn shade this year was probably Creamy Beige.
Eye Pencil- ByTerry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock. This is a new category this year because I've been using more eyeshadow pencils. I love the ByTerry Eyeshadow pencil as it is very shimmery, long lasting and blends amazingly well. They feel so luxurious.
Eyeshadow Palette- Urban Decay Naked Basics 2. Another example of how great Urban Decay's eyeshadows are. This is the perfect cool toned neutral palette. I love wearing it by itself or using one of the matte shades with other shimmery shadows.
Gel Eyeliner- Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner* To be perfectly honest I haven't used gel liner as much as I have in previous years but this is still my favourite. Creamy and long lasting.
Liquid Eyeliner- Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner. This is my all time favourite liquid liner and I only wish I had discovered it sooner. It has a really fine tip so it's easy to draw a wing. It's also very long lasting and never smudges.
Pencil Eyeliner- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil* I have so many of these liners in various colours and they're very creamy and bendable but once they set, they don't budge.
Primer- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion* I don't even know what I would do without this primer. It keeps my eyeshadows in place and makes them more vibrant.
Mascara-Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara. This mascara is great at lengthening and volumizing. My lashes have never looked better.
Brow Gel- L'Oreal Brow Plumper. I love using this tinted brow gel on no-makeup makeup days because it makes my brows look full and groomed while being super easy and quick. It's also great to set my brows and keep them in place all day.
Brow Pencil- Anastasia Brow Wiz* Everyone loves the Brow Wiz. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.
Brow Highlighter- Chella Highlight. I use this as a brow highlight daily so I thought it deserved a place in my 2015 favourites.

Best of 2015: Skincare

Welcome to 2016! I can't believe 2015 is over but I'm excited for what this new year will bring. I thought the best way to start 2016 on my blog would be to talk about all of the products I loved in 2015. All week I will be posting my Best of 2015 products, divided into different categories. Any product that has a * beside it was a favourite last year as well. I'm going to start with my favourite skincare. You can see my favourites from last year here.

MositurizerOle Henriksen nurture me* This was a favourite last year as well. Very hydrating and smells amazing!
Night Cream- Origins High Potency Night-a-Mins. I've been using this as my night cream the entire year and I really notice a difference in my skin when I wake up. It's softer and smoother and just feels really lovely.
Eye Cream- Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. Another product I've been using all year. This product really hydrates and brightens my under eyes.
OilJosie Maran Argan Oil* Still my holy grail oil. Last year I applied this as a night oil but I switched this year and used it just when I had dry patches but it's an amazing oil.
CleanserEmma Hardie Cleansing Balm. I discovered this cleansing balm this year and I'm hooked. Not only does it smell and feel lovely, it's also amazing at removing makeup and leaving my skin feeling clean and hydrated.
Makeup RemoverBioderma* I've talked way too much about this on my blog already. I have nothing new to say, it's just really great.
Spot TreatmentClean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment*  This spot treatment has salicylic acid which works best at clearing my breakouts really quickly.
MaskGlamGlow Supermud. This mask is the best at clearing blackheads leaving your skin looking perfect. It's literally like magic and watching the mask dry is strangely addicting.
Serum- Hydraluron. I'm going to credit this serum with keeping my skin from getting dry this winter. It's quickly become a holy grail product for me because it keeps my skin super hydrated.
Exfoliater- My favourite scrub is actually one my best friend makes for me. It's literally so much better than anything I've tried from the store, high end or drugstore.
Body ButterSoap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Butter Cream. I like this product a little better during the spring and summer because of the wonderful citrus scent but this is still a great, hydrating body butter.

December 2015 Favourites

Welcome to the 12 Days of Blogmas - Day 12

I can't believe it's the last day of the 12 Days of Blogmas. The last 12 days have gone by so quickly! I'm going to take a little break from blogging until the New Year so I just wanted to say Happy Holidays to everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. For my final post I wanted to do a December favourites.
 First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser
I have been using this as my cleanser in the shower this month and I've been liking it. It's gentle on my sensitive skin. It foams up really nicely and leaves my skin feeling clean but not too dry.

City Color HD Power
I tried "baking" my foundation and concealer this month for the first time and while I'm not sure "baking" is for me, (frankly I don't have the time or energy), this powder gave me a really flawless finish.  I also like this powder to set my lipstick. You can see the post here where I explain this tip.

Milani Baked Blush in Red Vino
This is such as gorgeous blush for this time of year. I've worn it quite a few times this month as kind of a statement blush where the rest of my makeup is fairly minimal. Milani just makes the best blushes.

Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Siren in Scarlet
This is one of my favourite matte red lipsticks. I've mostly worn red lips this month because it's the perfect time of the year to rock a red lip. I've talked lots in the past about how this lipstick formula is so comfortable. Best at the drugstore in my opinion.

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
It's winter and the time where my skin gets ridiculously dry. I've been using this body conditioner in the shower to give my skin some extra hydration. It's really helped my skin and it smells so good!

Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Body Lotion
I've slathered myself in this lotion this month as it's my favourite winter scent. To be honest it's not a great moisturizer but I wear it more as perfume than for it's hydration benefits.

I hope you've enjoyed the 12 Days of Blogmas! I've really enjoyed posting these last 12 days. If you missed any of the days be sure to go back and check them out.

Happy Holidays!

November 2015 Favourites

As it's the last day of November, it's time for another monthly favourites! I've actually found myself wearing quite a lot of makeup this month but most of it has come from my Smashbox palette. The rest of my favourites are products have have accompanied the Smashbox palette.
 Smashbox #Shapematters Palette
I have used this palette every single day since I got it. I love the contour shade in here and the brow powders are really good for natural looking brows. The shadows are lovely too. I have a HUGE post reviewing this palette so to keep from repeating myself,  I'll just direct you to that post - Review

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink
I have been using this as a base for the pink toned shadows in the Smashbox palette this month but I've also worn this on it's own. Although it's not the most fall/winter appropriate shade it gives a lovely, subtle, wash of colour that lasts all day.

Zoella Beauty Wonder Hand
This is a good hand cream with a lovely scent. It sinks into the hands quickly and isn't greasy. It's not the most moisturizing hand cream I've ever used but it keeps my hands from getting cracked and dry. Plus the packaging is so cute. I'm a sucker for anything Rose Gold.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper
I was not a fan of the Maybelline Brow Drama gel but this one from L'Oreal is amazing. Besides just holding your brows in place, this gel is tinted so it's great for lazy days when you don't feel like filling in your brows and it has fibers that help make your brows look fuller. The brush is also tiny and much easier to control than the Maybelline one. I just love it!

Benefit They're Real Mascara
This is one of my all time favourite mascaras. It's amazing at volumizing and lengthening your lashes and the brush makes it really east to coat and separate each lash. Although I've never allowed myself to splash out on the full size, this is the second mini that I've gone through. The only downside is one everyone already knows, it's hard to remove.
