My Morning Skincare Routine

A few weeks ago I posted my Sunday Night Skincare Routine so I thought it was only right that for Skincare Week I show you my everyday morning routine. Just so you know I have very dry, sensitive skin. I'm not saying I have the perfect skincare routine, but this is what works for me.

Bioderma (Sensititve Skin)
The first step in my morning routine is cleansing. Although some mornings I do use a real cleanser, most mornings I'm too lazy and I just end up wiping my face with some Bioderma. Not ideal but better than nothing.

Indeed Labratories Hydraluron
The next step in my morning routine is this hydrating serum. I did a full review of this on the first day of drugstore week so if you missed it you can find it here. This really works to keep my skin looking hydrated and plump.

Ole Henriksen Nurture Me
The next step in my skincare routine is moisturizer. I have been using this moisturizer for about a year now and I really love it. It is good at moisturizing, it makes my skin feel really soft and it seems to reduce some of my redness. It also smells absolutely amazing- very sweet.

Origins GinZing Refeshing eye cream
The last step in my morning routine is eye cream. This one from origins is really brightening. It also depuffs under my eyes. I love using it each morning as it really makes a difference to my dark under eye circles.

It's a pretty easy routine and it only takes a few minutes but it seems to really work with my skin.

Let me know what products you use as part of your Morning Skincare Routine?

Also I can't let it go unnoticed that this is Remembrance Day (or whatever you call it where you live) so take a moment and think about all those who have fought for your country.

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Review

To start off skincare week I thought I would review my new favourite skincare product. I've found my skincare savior.
This is a moisture serum that you use daily under your moisturizer and it works at hydrating the deep layers of your skin.

According to the website: "hydraluron™ moisture serum contains a pure form of hyaluronic acid, an incredibly hydrating ingredient that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water."

This works to hydrate and plump up your skin. I've been using it morning and night for about 2 months and I can say I have noticed a difference in my skin. It's a lot less dry and it's much smoother.
This is not a moisturizer so it is important to use a moisturizer over this serum.
This product has a gel formula, it's clear and a little thick so a little goes a long way. It goes on and feels a little sticky but it dries extremely quickly and leaves your skin feeling smooth. It is also completely fragrance free.

Here in Canada it is a reasonable price and its is available at Shoppers Drug Mart. I highly recommend it.

October 2015 Favourites

Sorry this post is a little late. It's midterm time again- ugh the life of a University student. I don't actually have many favourites this month so this will be short and sweet.

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron
I don't want to say too much because this baby gets an entire post dedicated to it. I'll just say this product is a game changer. You can find the post where I review this serum here.

Zoella Candy Cream
This lotion is not only moisturizing but it really does soften my skin. I've been loving using it this past month and I've really noticed a difference. Plus it smells really lovely and it supports one of my favourite youtubers.

Lancome Blush in Aplum
I've been using this blush all month. I think it's the perfect plum colour for fall. I included it in my Autumn Essentials post. It's not too pigmented which means I don't have to worry about applying this dark blush too heavily and looking like a clown.

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm
My lips have been getting drier as the air gets colder and this lip balm has worked really well to save my lips. It's clear and not too sticky but thick and it smells like mint and lime. It's very soothing.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara
I have such a love/hate relationship with this mascara but it's been love this month so I thought I would include it. This is honestly a pretty average mascara but now that it's dried out a little (and less clumpy), it does a good job at giving my lashes lots of volume.

Halloween Candy
Because Halloween is the perfect excuse to stuff you face with chocolate.

What have you been loving this month?

Re-Shopping My Stash

I've gotten to a point with my makeup where I have so much that it's hard to remember every product that I own. So as I was reorganizing my collection this weekend, I rediscovered some old favourites and some products that never got enough attention from me. I thought I would collect them up and do a re-shopping my stash post.

Origins Plantscription Youth-renewing Face Oil- I got this mini face oil as part of an Origins set last Christmas and I think I've only used it once since then so I thought it deserved to be tested properly. I'll report back what I think of it.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01- This was my holy grail bronzer for the longest time but as I started using new bronzers, this one found it's way to the back of my drawer and into the land of the forgotten. I'm glad I've pulled it out again because it seriously is one of my favourites.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil- I have a lot of hair products but my hair is one of the most neglected parts of my beauty routine. Oops! Anyway this is a nice lightweight hair oil that makes my hair super shiny and soft. It also smells lovely.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo and Antwerp- I was obsessed with these Matte Lip Creams last winter but I haven't brought them out again until now. These are the MOST comfortable matte lip products! I have two different shades a darker pink (San Paulo, top) and a light pink (Antwerp, bottom).

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Shimmer Palette- I used this palette a lot when I first got it but since then it somehow got replaced by other palettes. I really love the colours, pigmentation and blendability of this palette so I'm going to make an effort to use it more.

Benefit Watt's Up- This came as a Birthday gift from Sephora a few years ago and it was actually the first highlighter I ever owned. I've brought it back out again and I had forgotten how lovely and glowy it is.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk- This is a product that definitively doesn't get enough use from me. It is the perfect base for eyeshadows as it makes your shadows last all day and it really brings out the true colour of the shadow.

City Color HD Powder- I'm not that big of a fan of loose powders so I never really tried this when I got it in a Ipsy bag. I know HD powders are fairly popular so I'll give this one a try.

Have you ever re-shopped your stash?
What products have you rediscovered?

Autumn Essentials

I wanted to share a few of my autumn essentials in today's post.
  • Pumpkin Spice Latte - I had my first Starbucks PSL this year after years of hearing everyone rave about them. Although Green Tea Latte's will probably always be my favourite winter drink, a Pumpkin Spice Latte is the perfect seasonal drink for this time of year.
  • Mauve Blush - I usually go darker with my blush in the winter to match my darker lips. I really like this one from Lancome in the shade Aplum.
  • Pumpkin Scented Candle -  I raved about this candle over on my instagram. It's Pumpkin Maple scented in a copper holder. It smells wonderful and makes my room perfectly scented for the season.
  • Hand Cream - I'm usually good to moisturize my body but I often forget to moisturize my hands which leaves them feeling cracked and dry. I like this mini Hand Food from Soap and Glory. It smells great and is really moisturizing.
  • Chapstick - Like your hands, your lips also need moisturizing once the weather gets colder. This one by Chapstick is Pumpkin Pie flavoured just to make it even more seasonal.
  • Night Cream - Still on the topic of dry skin, I often need a more heavy duty night cream for the winter. I like to get a head start on avoiding dry skin so I start with my heavier face creams in the fall. I really love this Origins Night-a-Mins.
  • Berry Lips - I love darker lip colours in the colder months. I did a whole post on my favourite Autumn Lip Products but this Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum is also one of my favs and so perfect for this time of year.

Candle Collection

I don't light many candles in the spring and summer but as soon as fall hits, the flames start flickering again. It turns out I have quite a few candles and I thought I would share them with you. I split them into categories; warm scents, holiday scents and fresh scents.

Warm Scents

  • Bath and Body Works - Hot Buttered Rum: This smells sweet and spicy, kind of like syrup but with a kick. I absolutely love it!
  • Bath and Body Works - London Calling: This smells exactly as it's described, like Earl Grey Tea and Lemon.
  • Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar: Another candle with an accurate name. Although never lit, this sits on my bedside table and gives off enough scent that I may never light it.

Holiday Scents

  • Candle-Lite - Cinnamon Spice: This is strongly scented with cinnamon and other scents that just scream Christmas!
  • Candle-Lite- Buttercream Pumpkin: Although technically not a candle, I love these highly scented sweet pumpkin smelling wax cubes to fragrance a room this time of year.
  • Shoppers Drug Mart- Pumpkin Maple Tart Harvest: This is by far my favourite candle besides the beautiful copper, the scent is just the right mix of sweet and pumpkin.

Fresh Scents

  • Bath and Body Works - Garden Strawberry: This is a sickly sweet strawberry smelling candle.
  • Willow Lane - Cucumber & Cantaloupe: A surprising combination that creates the freshest most relaxing scent. One of my favs!
  • Debi Lilly- Current: These came in a set of 4 and they are not too strong but give off a light, fresh scent of blackberry and french cassis.
  • Bath and Body Works - Caribbean Escape: This is a very strong mix of pineapple, casaba melon and coconut, not my favourite.
I hope you've enjoyed this quick look at my candle collection.

Warm Autumn Eyeshadow Look

I haven't done an eyeshadow look for a while so I wanted to do a really warm orange eyeshadow look that's perfect for the season.

I used a combination of two palettes (itCosmetics Naturally Pretty and I <3 Makup's Naked Chocolate) but any shades that you have that are similar would also look.
I started by taking Sunrise, a warm brown, from the Naturally Pretty palette and buffing that into the crease and a little above. I then took a pencil brush and carefully applied Sunset, an orange- reddish shade, from that same palette into my crease almost like a subtle cut crease.
From the Naked Chocolate palette I took Frosted Choc, a metallic copper, and patted that all over the lid. I then took Wonka, a dark brown, from that same palette and applied that into my outer V.
Under my eye I applied Wonka on the outer corners and then took Frosted Choc along the rest of my lashline. I used Smoothly, a satin pinkish-white to highlight my browbone and Way, a shimmery pale gold, as my inner corner highlight.
I finished off using a black Maybelline Gel liner on my top lashes and Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in Roach on my waterline. I then gave my top and bottom lashes a few coats of mascara and this is the finished look!

What do you think of the finished look?
